Sewer Renovation Design Guide
Seventh Edition
It is now over 40 years since WRc published the first edition of the Sewerage Rehabilitation Manual with its ground-breaking methods for the design of sewer renovation systems. In that time the Type II design method, particularly has been widely adopted in many parts of the world.
Based on extensive UK and international research into the behaviour and design of pipeline renovation systems for flexible close-fitting liners (Type II) an international consensus is emerging on the use of the modified Glock method in place of the Timoshenko method. This revised sewer renovation design guide encapsulates this consensus drawing on other established international design methods.
The Type I design method that considers the liner and the host pipe as a single composite structure, has been little used in recent years. This is principally because of the overwhelming popularity of flexible close-fitting liners. Nevertheless, a revised Type I design approach is included in this guide, drawing on international research and taking a less simplified approach is response to comments on the previous method This is to assist designers in those rare occasions where a Type I design is required.
In that time also, sewer renovation systems have evolved, and this major revision allows users to take full advantage of the benefits of these systems.
